Twas the night before Christmas

2009年12月24日 | nam | 0

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

『Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!』

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
『Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!』

nam’s christmas choice (8) – It Doesn’t Often Snow At Christmas

2009年12月24日 | nam | 0

It Doesn’t Often Snow At Christmas…

nam’s christmas choice (7) – Frosty The Snowman

本來是覺得他們cover 『Frosty The Snowman』 好像是格格不入,可是結果卻是我最喜歡的一個Frosty The Snowman 的cover version。

nam’s christmas choice (6) – A New York Christmas

A New York Christmas 是Rob 的第一張Solo 細碟,分別在2002 及2003年都有推出過,所得的收益,都是撥捐予New York 當地的慈善機構。

nam’s christmas choice (5) – Winter Wonderland

2009年12月22日 | nam | 0

Winter Wonderland 跟 Have yourself a merry little Christmas

nam’s christmas choice (4) – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

nam’s Christmas choice (3) – Hey Santa!

九十年代初,Wilson Phillips 挾著殿堂級樂隊The Beach Boys 及 The Mamas and Papas 的下一代之名而來,在Billboard 流行榜上打出非常好的成績,細碟Hold On 甚至把如日中天的Madonna 從No. 1 的位置拉下來,Grammy Awards 亦得到數項題名。

Hey Santa!

If everyday was Christmas
If we could make believe
If everyone would care a little more
There’d be harmoney

The city is covered in snow tonight
The children fast asleep
I’m waiting for him, but he’s nowhere in sight
And I wonder if he can hear me

Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
I wish with all my might
Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
Bring my baby home tonight

Why does it feel like it’s colder than winter
Even by the fireside
My baby said he’d be home for Christmas
And now it’s almost midnight
The Christmas lights up and down the street
Are such a sight to see
But all the presents by the tree
They don’t mean a thing till he’s with me

Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
I wish with all my might
Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
If you hear me won’t you hurry
Bring my baby tonight

I know your sleigh is full inside
But won’t you stop and give my baby a ride
I’ll be waiting by candle light this Christmas
The Christmas lights up and down the street
Are such a sight to see
But all the presents by the tree
They don’t mean a thing
Santa please hear me

Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
I wish with all my might
Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
If you hear me won’t you hurry
Bring my baby tonight

The Christmas lights up and down the street
The presents by the tree
I hear a knock, oh can it be?
My wish is staring back at me

Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
I guess you heard me tonight
Hey Santa
Hey Santa…Santa
I’m underneath the mistletoe
With my baby tonight

Sleigh ride…
It’s Christmas time…

nam’s Christmas choice (2) – Grown-Up Christmas List

Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies
Well, I’m all grown-up now
Can you still help somehow?
I’m not a child, but my heart still can dream

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown-up Christmas list
Not for myself, but for a world in need

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
Every man would have a friend
That right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list

What is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in that blind belief can we ever find the truth

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal our hearts
Every man would have a friend
That right would always win
And love would never end

This is my grown-up Christmas list
This is my only lifelong wish
This is my grown-up Christmas list

nam’s Christmas choice (1) – I Wanna Be Your Christmas

I Wanna Be Your Christmas

Well it’s cold outside and the lights are low
Everything around me is covered in the deep snow
And I’m thinking about you
Well the gifts are laid beneath that tree
And I’m wondering to myself if you’re thinking about me
Are you thinking about me?

Coz it’s not like I just wanna be
The guy that you’re waiting to see
When every festivity is over

I wanna be the 12 days wrapped in 1
I wanna be your drummer boy, burrum bum bum bum
I wanna be the eggnog in your rum
I wanna be (I wanna be)
I wanna be the north star that you see
I wanna be the partridge in your tree
I wanna know your Christmas just ain’t Christmas
Without me

Those city sidewalks and that holiday style
Ain’t got nothing on me and my holiday smile
Don’t you like my smile?
Well the table looks nice and the gravy looks hot
But I counted all the chairs and you’re still missing one spot
Hope it’s not my spot

Coz it’s not like I just wanna be
The guy that you’re waiting to see
When every festivity is over

I wanna be the 12 days wrapped in 1
I wanna be your drummer boy, burrum bum bum bum
I wanna be the eggnog in your rum
I wanna be (I wanna be)
I wanna be the north star that you see
I wanna be the partridge in your tree
I wanna know that Christmas just ain’t Christmas
Without me

The lights are dimmer and they’ve lost their glow
You and me should’ve been making angels in the snow
It’s not like every Christmas you can say that you are mine
And if you pass this up, if you mess this up
I might not be your Valentine
I might not be your Valentine

I wanna be the 12 days wrapped in 1
I wanna be your drummer boy, burrum bum bum bum
I wanna be the eggnog in your rum
I wanna be (I wanna be)
I wanna be the north star that you see
I wanna be the partridge in your tree
I wanna know that Christmas just ain’t Christmas
Yeah, Christmas just ain’t Christmas
No, Christmas just ain’t Christmas
Without me
Without me
Without me

Our economy is so totally swicked!”
